19 September 2018 – WA Timber Industry welcomes new National Forest Industries Plan

WA's timber industry stands to benefit from the National Forest Industries Plan announced by the Federal Government last week. You can download and read the plan here. The associated budget plan is here.

This new National Forest Industries Plan picks up on key priorities for the WA industry, with the bold objective of planting a billion extra trees over a decade. Such an achievement would go a long way to securing investment and jobs for the industry.

The aim of getting more trees in the ground, of the right species, in the right location and at the right scale, is fundamental for the WA industry.

Also of note, the concept of Regional Forestry Hubs has gained traction in this plan. The Federal Member for Forrest, Nola Marino, is advocating for the South West to be identified as such a Regional Forestry Hub.
