FIFWA is pleased to share that after significant review, the Metropolitan Redevelopment Authority has approved the plan to build the $14 million “Leadlight” hotel on the corner of Beaufort and Newcastle streets in the city.
It will be constructed from a mix of cross laminated timber (CLT) and laminated veneer lumber (LVL) and incorporate the heritage-listed, five-shop brick and iron building already on site.
Klopper and Davis, the architecture firm involved is also planning timber framed social housing displays in Wellard. This follows the trend for engineered timber buildings across Australia, predominately lead by Lendlease.
